Marie is caring to all ages. She met my daughter when she was only 8. My daughter was suffering with anorexia at that time. Marie hugged her and told her that she needs to eat right and not let the other kids make fun of her for any reason. She then gave her another hug and said, “You need to love yourself because your mom does and so do I.”

Being one of the oldest members of the MDF group, it was thrilling when I met Marie for the first time at IDEX in Orlando some years back. So many of the gals have known her for many years and go to shows to see her and her doll line. Marie was so kind to me that first meeting and treated me the same as she did everyone. Her enthusiasm and love for her dolls, and, of course, everything in her life, makes her so special to me and when I see her, I feel much younger. And all of my dolls that I have from Marie's line have added so much joy to my life and for this I can't thank her enough. Marie is amazing and keeps a schedule that is so unbelievable. She has such a kind heart and spirit and it makes me proud to be able to tell people that I have actually gotten hugs from this amazing woman.

I was attending a signing at a doll shop. I took a picture of my first doll sculpt from a class with one of Marie's artist. Marie took the time to review the picture, give me sculpting tips and encouraged me to continue practicing and sculpting. She even took her pen and drew on the picture to illustrate her points. With all that was happening, she spent quality time with me to share something we are both passionate about...dolls. I have seen her exhibit this special quality many times over with others and it is one of the things that makes her so exceptional. For the few minutes you are with her, you are her total focus and she makes you feel that you are important and that she is happy to spend time with you.

Hi,
When I saw Marie at QVC (2009), I bought her book to be signed for a very sick friend. I told Marie what was wrong with her; she has RSD and Marie new immediately what it was. I also asked Marie if she could possibly say hello to my friend (Lisa Gray) on the air because I knew it would just make her day. Marie did not hesitate one second; she grabbed her Sharpie, made a note of it on her hand and also asked Connie to remind her. Well, she said hello to Lisa and Lisa was just thrilled. It definitely made her day. I will always be grateful to Marie for doing this. My friend lives in Arizona and I live in New Jersey and I have no way of really helping her with her situation right now, so this was a way I could bring some cheer to her life. Sending her the signed book also made her very happy.

When I was at a crossroads in my life, and questioning God and my faith, I just happened to be at a doll signing with Marie in DC. I don't know why, but there of all places I was compelled to ask her something, Even though she is who she is (a big star) and I am just who I am (Just me). But I asked her about Church & God and how she knew it was true .She gave me a hug and whispered her testimony in my ear and wrote some scriptures for me read. I was deeply touched that she would take the time to answer such a personal question right there in the line of the doll signing. But her devotion to God was very apparent through her gentle & kind witness to me. In that small moment, She touched my heart deeply, and I know that was God's love shining through her and out to me. Now, really, how many people can do something like that whether they are a star or not? She is a special person.

You have shown many acts of kindness to me and to others. My most treasured memory was when you took the time to meet my parents, Glen and Wanda. They were so impressed with your sincerity and genuine act of concern. To them you were a normal, kind and caring individual, no celebrity status what so ever. After your conversation, you offered to pose for pictures, which my parents proudly display in their home. Afterward I found my dad with tears in his eyes. I went over and asked him if he was okay. He nodded yes and said, "Sis I now understand why Marie means so much to you! She is such a wonderful, kind and caring person. She took the time to talk to me and I'm just a normal old man." I embraced my dad (now we're both in tears) and told him that he was special and that I loved him dearly. My parents mean the world to me and for you to take the time from your busy schedule to meet them, truly meant a lot. I've followed the Osmond's' for years and my parents never understood the draw. Sometimes I think that they thought I was crazy! lol But now, after meeting you, they understood. Since then my parents have had the pleasure to meet you several other times. My dad in now 81 years young and my mom is 76. I truly love my parents, my dad is my world!! Thank you for blessing our lives.

With the launch of your doll line in 1991, I have become acquainted with MDF's and they are a unique group of caring and loving friends. A true family of sisters! For that I thank you!

Your dolls have brought such joy and love to not only me, but to my family and friends. My mom and Aunt Doris have collected dolls since their childhood and have added some of your collection to theirs. In October of 2009, Marie had a 50^th birthday party at the Flamingo hotel. Many of her doll collector friends and fans attended. I decided to honor Marie’s new decade of life by collecting (hopefully) fifty stories from friends, fans, and collectors about acts of kindness that they had personally experienced because of knowing Marie.

I’m going to post 5 on the website each week (as I long ago promised….sorry!).

Please know, for the sake of privacy, I left off last names, and some of the letters have been edited down a bit because of space or at the request of the sender.

Dear Marie,

Much like your dolls have graced our home with their unique style, beauty and fun, you have graced my life by your beautiful example of all that is true and good and genuine. While I know that you may not remember me from one doll signing to another, each time I meet you, you greet me as a friend greets another friend and you take an interest in the things I say, whether it is a story about how one of your dolls is special to me, or a story about how your dolls brought me together with many special friends. I have enjoyed the friendship and fellowship of other doll collectors from around the world and the times I can spend with them mean a great deal to me. For several years, I corresponded with another doll friend in Malaysia, and during that time, we developed a wonderful friendship. We were finally able to meet in person on August 28, 2009 when we went to see your show at the Flamingo. When I shared this story with you after the show, you took the time to listen with great interest, in spite of the fact that you were busy and there were fans still waiting in line to have their picture taken with you.

Thank you for taking time for your fans, for taking an interest in them, for the kindness and friendship you extend to others, and for being the special person that you are to me and to so many other fans and dollfriends. I wish you a very happy 50th birthday and may all of your wishes and dreams come true!

A "CHRIS"tmas Story....

One of my favorite "CHRIS"tmas movies of all time is "A Christmas Story"... Although we have this movie on Video and DVD we always have to watch it first when it airs on television. Ralphie reminds me so much of myself as a kid (and it didn't hurt looking like him growing up!) haha.. and Yes, that is me in the picture!.

My wife and I just watched White Christmas last night, which is another classic we enjoy together as a family. Just love Bing Crosby.. Did you know he was 51 years old during the filming of White Christmas?.. He looked great!

What are some of the Christmas movies you enjoy with your family during the holidays?

Homemade Ornaments... It's a tradition!

Marshmallow Snowman Christmas Ornament

If you're like me and my family, we have a tradition each year to either make or get a new tree ornament for each of us. (I prefer to make them, but sometimes we may find a special set that we just can't pass up buying).

We always get a "real" tree to decorate and have a fake snow covered tree which we decorate "only" with snowmen.... So, I thought this little idea would be fun to share.

Here is a quick and easy way to make a marshmallow snowman ornament that's fun for both kids and adults... You can use any amount or size of marshmallow to use for your snowman, The marshmallows can be joined together using simple toothpicks (You can even use them for arms and to poke the holes for eyes and a mouth!) :) Decorate your snowman with ribbon, candy, or whatever you like.....and because marshmallows harden.... the ornaments can be stored for use in following years.

As we start to close in on our second week of December, we can see a hint of snowfall on the mountains just outside the Charisma offices. Ok, it's a bit far, but we can can feel it!..(Look Close.. it's there!)

If only the cold weather could be coupled with snow I feel it may be a little more tolerable. At least we would be able to "see" why we're freezing! ha. But then again, it's normal to be cold in 60 degree weather here!

What are some of the ways you try to stay warm during the weather? Do you have a nightly fireplace gathering with the crackling of logs burning? Do you have a special blanket or snuggie you put on and cuddle up with a hot cup of cocoa?

First signs of winter

For some, the first sign of winter may be the coming of rain... (Instead of snow!). That's primarily how we look forward to winter in Southern California. Although we may lack the traditional snow fall come December, we make up for it through the spirit of the holiday (as seen in these pictures). From Disneyland's "It's a small world" attraction" to A home on Balboa Island!

SANTA ANA – A former accountant and trustee was sentenced to four years in prison for stealing more than $500,000 in trust fund money and using it to buy a doll collection, county prosecutors said today.

Margot Jean Strawn, 58, of Laguna Hills, was ordered to pay the money back in restitution to the victims, according to the Orange County District Attorney's office.

Strawn, a certified public accountant, was hired by the Pellissier family to manage the trust funds of siblings Michelle and Edmund Pellissier, prosecutors said. She stole more than $500,000 between May 31, 2001, and Jan. 19, 2007 by writing herself checks from the accounts and depositing them into her personal bank account, prosecutors said.

She failed to file tax returns for Michelle Pellissier's trust fund, and continued performing accounting work even though her license expired, prosecutors said.

In March 2007, the fraud came to the attention of the Internal Revenue Service, which notified Michelle Pellissier, prosecutors said. She and her brother checked their accounts and discovered most of their money had been stolen.

On Monday, Strawn pleaded guilty to two felony counts of grand theft with sentencing enhancements for aggravated white collar crime over $500,000 and property damage over $150,000 and $50,000, prosecutors said.

Farrah Emami, a spokeswoman for the district attorney's office, said investigators discovered Strawn spent the money buying dolls online.

My mother collected your dolls for several years and one of her favorites was the doll in the christening dress. My mother passed away May 17, 2008, from lung cancer; a week later my daughter found out she was pregnant. My beautiful granddaughter was born in February and in October she was baptized. I suggested that my granddaughter wear the doll dress

which fit her perfectly. The ceremony was very special and it seemed like my mothe

r was there in spirit because we used the Marie Osmond doll dress that my mother absolutely loved. I am attaching pictures of my granddaughter.

Out of all the dolls that my mother collected from you, this will be the one that can be passed through the generations with a special and heartfelt story. McKenna will never know her great-grandmother but she can always keep the doll and tell the story of her baptism.

Not Solving World Peace....However....

So, in what can be considered these "challenging times," I think about the fact that I get to create fun graphics and websites, catalogs and packages for beautiful and whimsical, love-able and huggable dolls... that are delivered to kids and big kids alike.

It made me think of this quote I saw the other day by an executive at Coke.....

“We’re not claiming we’re solving world peace or anything, but offering a little moment of joy in what can be overall difficult days.” An Executive at Coca Cola.

I really identify with what he's saying and thought about it in the context of what we do here at Charisma - making dolls and such..... No, we're not solving world peace. But! I am certain that when the dolls and products we make find their way to you, they provide joy and peace and happiness - some laughter and comfort whenever you might need it. :o)

In Honor of Veteran's Day...

Words cannot express the true pride I have in the committed service my family, friends, fellow Veterans and myself, have given for our country. (My father, uncle and brother have all served in the US Navy and have instilled in me the patriotism and honor, which I will forever hold high).

I enlisted at the tender age of 17 and was medically retired and honorably discharged in 1998 due to a service connected accident while training. (I fell 40 feet, shattering both of my heels). Although I was unable to fulfill my intended retirement plan with the Navy at 20 years, I have held strong, the values and lessons it has taught me.Various commands throughout my Naval Career as a Petty Officer 2nd Class (SK2)

Did you know that most Americans confuse Veterans Day with Memorial Day?

Veterans Day gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans. However, most Americans confuse this holiday with Memorial Day.

And unfortunately most Americans do not know why we commemorate Veterans on Nov.11. I feel it's imperative that all Americans know the history of Veterans Day so that we can honor our former service members properly.

Memorial Day honors service members who have died in service to their country or as a result of injuries incurred during battle. Fallen veterans are also remembered on Veterans Day but this day is set aside to thank and honor living veterans who served honorably in the military, both in wartime and/or peacetime.

Did you know? Veterans Day, was formerly known as Armistice Day, and was originally set as a U.S. legal holiday to honor the end of World War I, (which officially took place on November 11, 1918). Legislation was passed in 1938 on November 11 and was "dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as 'Armistice Day.'" As such, this new legal holiday honored World War I veterans.

I enjoyed meeting you in Las Vegas. Thanks so much for the wonderful party you all put together...I know it was a lot of work and we had justtons of fun!! The gift bag was fantastic and very generous! The girls just love their new dolls! We ordered the Paper Roses fashion doll today from QVC for Emma Kate. She wants the whole series so keep 'em coming!...she's still on cloud 9 from winning the doll.

You had asked me to send you a video of the girls playing with them so I've pasted a couple of links below to a couple of videos I put on YouTube. In the first one, they were putting on the Vegas show using the old Donny and Marie dolls and the new Marie dolls...it's cute if you can get past their singing! ;-)

Emma Kate left you a really sweet message at the end of it about her new fashion doll. The other video is just areally short one of them playing with them in the back yard. As there are only 7 weeks until the Christmas Holiday, I begin to ask myself; "Is it still too early to shop? Or have I already fallen behind?......

I for one have always been a last minute shopper (I tend to believe I can find the best deals on impulse! Ha)... But that doesn't always turn out for the best in the end (especially for me!).

So, this year, I hope to begin my Holiday shopping this weekend.... But let me ask you... Have I missed the boat on sailing through a beautiful and joyous holiday season already? Should I have started earlier?

Facing an extremely difficult economy also weighs in on that "get up and go" shopping attitude, I have always had this time of year......

Like most people, "I want, no need, to be the first to find that great deal at that great price, before another person gives my present to someone else.... Will I find myself waiting outside a store at midnight, surfing the internet, or driving 100s of miles?... hmmm.. I think I need a plan of action! Yeah, that's it, a plan of action.

How creative have you been with your gift giving? Have you ever made "all" of your gifts to give out? That's my favorite type of gift.. When someone takes the time to put their Heart, soul, energy and passion into making a gift just for me......... ahhhh, Made with love. It really doesn't get better than that. Actually one of my favorite gifts was a quilt and afghan made by my mother. Granted I'm one of 6 and we all received them, but mine was made just for me! love it, love it, love it!!!!

Here's hoping we all have a safe, healthy and happy holiday (gifting) season!

(I would love to hear some of your comments on how you plan (or have planned) to make your holiday as stress free and frugal as possible this year.

6,000+ Dolls Donated to Toys for Tots - "Buy a Doll Give a Doll" a HUGE Success!

The "Buy a Doll - GIVE a Doll" Campaign has been a wonderful SUCCESS! We donated 6,000+ Dolls to the TOYS for TOTS Program! THANKS TO EVERYONE THAT BOUGHT A DOLL and MADE THIS EFFORT SO SUCCESSFUL!!

Everyone here in the office pitched in to help in the send off of the dolls!! Toys For Tots collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. (Even our own Augey dog got in the act)

Phase 2 will now begin and the Charisma Offices, located at 9 Goddard, Irvine, CA, will be a Drop Off location for new unwrapped toys and monetary donations during the months of November and December! The dolls and toys collected in Irvine offices will then be delivered to Camp Pendleton, California in late December!!

So if you're in the area, drop off a new doll or a new unwrapped toy and make a child's Holiday EXTRA Special this year!

We were so glad to receive our Adora Spell Belle doll today. We have been looking forward to having her as part of our Halloween decorations.

Attached is a picture of the mantel arrangement that my daughter and twin 13 year old granddaughters made with her here in Huntsville. I am not sure if you can see the broom tied in her hand. That is a part of a Build A Bear witch outfit that the girls have. It looks perfect with the doll - even has a purple bow tied on it. (Marie should have included that with the doll..LOL)

In 1973, Marie Osmond cut her first single as a solo artist, "Paper Roses". The recording became a #1 Country hit, reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Magazine Pop Chart, and achieved crossover success. The song earned a gold record as did the album of the same name.

And now, (we'll call it a few, years later... ) "Paper Roses" has become another hit!.. (The Marie Osmond Fashion Doll that is).

The "Paper Roses" Fashion Doll by Marie Osmond Dolls and Charisma Brands, was a sold out success on Marie's last QVC show of the year, airing Monday, Oct. 26th.

Marie, our birthday girl, who celebrated one day early, must believe it is better to give than to receive. Marie Osmond hosts collector birthday bash in Vegas

Marie Osmond -- the doll designer, recording artist, Broadway star, author, and mother of eight -- celebrated her 50th birthday on Oct. 9-10, 2009, at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas with 200 of her closest doll pals. A sold-out crowd attended a luncheon birthday bash, which continued into the evening as the crowd attended a packed "Donny & Marie" nightclub show and greeted the debut of Marie's new fashion doll.

The luncheon began with a beautiful video of Marie's life. The real Marie claimed the stage after the dishes had been cleared. She was introduced by Jonathan Roberts, her "Dancing with the Stars" partner, and was clearly delighted by his and other surprise guests' presences. She was presented with numerous official gifts, including a "Kissy" doll that had been her favorite when she was small; her first performance dress framed; a huge collection of hairclips (rumor has it her children steal hers); and a sizeable donation to the Children's Miracle Network, which Marie helped found. Marie read her thanks as an alphabet list of her feelings about turning 50 ("50 is the female 'F' word!") and her appreciation of her friends and family.

Then it was Marie's turn to give gifts, in the form of her 50 favorite items, wrapped and presented to collectors as doorprizes. The eclectic collection of items ranged from Marie's favorite makeup to a box of cereal, books, videos, chocolate, perfume, yarn and knitting needles, an iPod, fabric, items from her new home line, and even a sewing machine. She enthusiastically described the items, encouraging fans to "write this down" so they could pick up the exact right lip gloss, nutritional supplements, or fishnet stockings.

A trio of dancers from the "Donny & Marie" nightclub show wheeled in Marie's extravagant cake and led the singing of "Happy Birthday." While the crowd ate cake, a video of greetings from other celebririties and friends played, delighting Marie with whimsical audio notes from Mary Hart of Entertainment Tonight, the Vegas Chippendales, and even her own staff.

At the end of the luncheon, Marie generously signed dolls and books for two hours before whisking off to prepare for her nightclub act. The theater was crowded with doll fans who cheered Marie enthusiastically during the energetic show, which features music in a variety of genres.

After the show, the crowd gathered at the Flamingo's gift shop, where Marie had promised to pop out of a cake. She did -- or at least, the new fashion doll version of Marie did! Entertainment Tonight was on hand to film as Marie gave away the very first doll and collectors crowded in to buy a limited number of additional dolls from the first release.

The following day, collectors joined the Charisma staff at poolside for fun and games before lining up for a final doll signing with Marie in the gift shop.

Charisma Brands announces its first national Toys For Tots campaign. For every doll sold during the month of October 2009, a doll will be given to a child in need through the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program.

It is the primary goal of Toys for Tots to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens. Toys For Tots collects new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

The Charisma program is a nationwide program and the donated dolls will be distributed to Marine Units as directed by Marine Toys for Tots Foundation headquarters in Triangle, Virginia.

Another HAPPY Collector!!

First off I have to say how beautiful you are and talented too!! I have enjoyed your music, and your family's and saw you live in Tecumseh, Ont, Canada at the Tecumseh Corn Festival about ten years ago could be more, hee,hee, but we won't say. Anyways, I received my first Marie Osmond doll today. I have been waiting a long time for one and she is like you said on QVC," gorgeous'. She is number 0402 out of a thousand.That chubby little face even impressed my husband and the porcelain is like silk. She is sitting up top on my fireplace mantel for now and is the focal point when you walk into my living room. I love everything about her, right down to the markings on her arms and legs and those cute chubby feet. I do have other dolls, but haven't bought any in 16 years, because I couldn't find one I liked until I tuned into TSC in Canada. I had to pay more for this one because I bought it at QVC and the s&h and money difference, because at the time on TSC, my hubby said you better not buy any, so I didn't and the next morning he said, Okay how many did you buy, and when I looked saddly at him and said none, he actually looked sad for me and said I could order one.

Well now he said I could order two for Christmas, so I am waiting in excitement for baby Steiner, and Baby Googlie!! If they are are beautiful as this baby Vivian, I am sure to be ordering more. Oh, and my mom got me start you up for Christmas and two sets of the baby tots, that are adorable including the tot Hershey's and Krackle. I live in pain everyday and on days when the pain is worse, just looking at my dolls perks me up some.Thanks again for being you, I just love your whit and charm and your as crazy as me about your dolls and I love that about you, cause everyone here including my daughters, just don't get Marie. Maybe one day I will be able to come see you at the Flamingo to see your show, for you to sign one of my dolls. May God continue to watch over you and your family. God Bless You.

BFF's on the Run! "We're on Our Way....."

So You know what it's like when you and 2 of your BEST friends get together......all sorts of fun things happen and TIME REALLY FLIES!!

Hoo-boy this was reallly true this weekend! I spent time with some girlfriends (one of which was Pat, our customer service and All around Great Friend) We saw "Julie & Julia" at the movies of which I HIGHLY recommend! Nora Ephron did another GREAT job and Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci were just adorable! Grabbed some dinner, hung out and the next thing I knew it was past 12!

Well, that's the case for these 3 Best Friends Forever Limited Edition dolls! They have been delayed just a little while, but they will still be available in our online store VERY soon!

Reconnecting Friends Through Facebook

August could not be a better representation of "Friendship" month for me personally.. and I sincerely owe it to Facebook! Hard to believe? Well hear this.....

As a child I had many friends, and some very close one's at that.... But as things often change, so does your locations... My family and I moved approximately 3 times in my youth for different reasons, (ailing grandparents, job relocation..etc., whatever the case may have been, I was always saddened by the departure of close friends.

Granted, I am the youngest of 6 children (I have a twin sister Christina) and we were much like the Brady Bunch - minus an Alice! :) So we always had someone to play and hang out with... But still, there was always a void from those childhood friends.

Well, along comes this great little social network called Facebook. I mean, literally when I first signed up I was bombarded with friend requests from family and friends that I haven't spoken to in 20-30 years! I was amazed! As soon as I added a friend, I would get a request from another. and they keep coming....

I have now reconnected with many of my friends from gradeschool and highschool. Facebook has been an awesome outlet for building (or rebuilding) relationships and growing your friends.. I'm a true believe that one can never have enough friends and I cherish them all! Old and New.

But it surely speaks about the nature of our friendships and the many types of friends we have and have had in our lifetime. All sorts of shapes and colors, types of friends and their function or purpose too!

I am reminded of how my Dad really had the qualities in that first quote. (Never realized how much of a friend he really was to me.) I think of how in the last years of his life, how he continued to maintain his friendships and be a friend. It was central to his being, a focus as he gained so much from "hangin out" with his friends. (Truth be told they were mostly all women - popular with the ladies he was :o) Why he would have me schedule his doctor appointments around their regular 3 times a week or so gatherings. What a great example of how important friends are in our lives, no matter if we're 9 or 90!

Attached above is one of my favorite images of him along with a quick drawing of my "Daddio" as I called him, so glad to have this treasure of my great friend, my Dad!

Meet Khloe!... a pint sized ton of fun!

Hey Friends!... Chris here.... and I just had to share with you "Khloe's" first day at the office!

As you know with meeting the sensational"Augie" from bj's previous post, Charisma is a very "Dog-Friendly" place and here's more proof of that!

Khloe is a 4 year old Daschund that is more than just a pretty face! She loved sitting on my desk and posing for pictures! (I actually have two Daschund's.. KoKo is the complete opposite of Khloe. Where Khloe is the life of the party and just has to be the center of attention, KoKo prefers to stay low-key and is quite shy to be honest. Funny how that worked out, but together they are the best of friends! A regular Bud Abbott and Lou Costello if you will! :)

Khloe is a little ball of fire! Which stands to reason that her favorite toy is a red and yellow hard plastic Ball!. She can play with this thing for hours and I swear, if there ever was such a thing as a "Miniature Daschund Soccer League," Khloe would be the David Beckham version on her team!

But as the old saying goes.... "What goes around... (and around... and around... and around)... must eventually, come around... and that it did!

Khloe was exhuasted with her day's playing that she spent the rest of her time on my desk, which ultimately led to nap time!

Here is an interesting and fun fact about Daschunds...

"Did you know that the Daschund was first bred in Germany primarily to hunt badgers, and the word "Daschund" in German, literally translates to "Badger Dog?"

okay, well not EVERY day. But we are a dog-friendly company!
Some of us bring our four legged-furry- friends with us from time to time to the office at Charisma.

There's Augey and Miles, Khloe, Molly, and Murphy. (Yet to visit us are Bailey, Roxy, Smokey & Bandit, Koko, Kennedy.....and so many more!)

Things have been really busy in Product Development at Charisma as we are all working hard to complete dolls and special projects for 2009 and are also busy working on the development of the 2010 collections. As you can see in the photo we have lots of pretty pink boxes stacking up, filled with Marie Osmond Dolls for a big 18th Anniversary August release and some extra special surprises yet to come this year.

It got so busy one day that we had to enlist the help of one of our "dolly" friends who happily pitched in to complete some last minute changes we had to make on a costume. Morning Star (who was praying for a quick finish) she looks much better in her Native American costume! "Dolly" friends are the biggest help! Don't you think?
Ok...back to work! Too much fun!

A BLANK Canvas!

It's bj, graphic designer here @ Charisma.
Hope you're having a fun Tuesday!!

What's going on with Graphics??
I am having fun working on the art files for the packaging design for a new product that will be coming to a craft store near you VERY SOON!

The process is a really creative one in which we are given a blank canvas.......
As seen in the box above. We "brainstorm" the concept with our product development team, the name and so on. (They have, at this point, already designed the doll that goes into the box.) Then I get to create the files the printer uses to print the design on the blank boxes. For me, this involves making the shapes and colors and text for the box to showcase the doll at it's best! It will end up looking something like this........

This is the Porcelain Collectible Doll Kit! Named "Sweet Dreams" and this box started the same way as the above blank box! So, I hope that gives you an idea of some of the projects we do here in the graphics area at Charisma.

I thought I would share a little about the "inside" of Charisma. We strive to create wholesome, high quality, and irresistible products at a great value. Not surprisingly, the core values of Charisma are creativity, teamwork, enthusiasm, excellence, and integrity. Rather than simply putting the core values down on paper and filing them away, we wanted them up on a wall in our workspace to give us inspiration on a daily basis.

I decided to call upon a Laguna Beach, California-based artist friend of mine, Dianne Aoki, to create some art for us. Dianne has taught art at my kid's school for many years and I have always admired her work. I explained to Dianne what we were trying to do and after a number of visits (including visits with our team and important solo visits from her after hours that allowed her to connect to our workspace), she created six paintings which hang prominently together on our wall. The paintings are a graphic representation of our core values and contain symbols that reflect our values in various cultures. Since we are a global company with artists, suppliers, and talent scattered around the globe that are pulled together by a desire to create beautiful, cherished products, we drew upon various cultures to embody our values.

I hope you enjoy the paintings and Dianne's story behind them.

The six panels before you are a series of mixed-media paintings created to represent Charisma’s distinct values as well as charge the work environment with exuberance and compelling imagery. Inspired by the contemplative culture and vast landscape of Tibet, the colors here are deep and resonate particular attributes: The color red contributes to a sense of feeling grounded and connected, orange – balance and creativity, yellow – intuition and consciousness, green – love, compassion, and inspiration, blue – self expression and truth, indigo – wisdom and insight.

Pat, our fabulous customer service representative (and all around COOL person!) just forwarded an e-mail from one of the winners of last fall's "Woman's World" Magazine contest.

Thought you'd like to read it too, her excitement really comes through in her letter and truly is what collecting is all about!

It was pure excitement to receive the huge box of Marie Osmond dolls
that were the choices from winning the Woman's World contest!!! It was
a lot of fun picking out just which dolls to get, but it was even more
fun receiving them all!! Even the Fed Ex guy said, "Congratulations!!"
:) All the dolls are just beautiful and so special. Thank you for all
Charisma did to give such a wonderful prize!

Betsey Bubbles is such a CUTEY!!! And those Adora Calendar dolls are
just addictive...you get one and you want them all!!! Plus the Adora
Heart Bitty Belle is very adorable! How exciting it will be to recieve
the special Organza Love and Teddy Bear too!! All the dolls are
beautiful and definitely treasures!!!

Thanks again for your great kindness and generosity! There will be a
lot of excitement over all these dolls at our house for a long time!!!

Congratulations to the 10 Finalists!

One quilt from each participating Janome dealer has been selected for the National round and from these, Marie as selected the top 10.
The 10 finalists submissions are now posted on marieosmond.com and YOU get to pick the winners!
First, Second and Third place will be determined by online voting from April 27th through May 8th.
Winners will be announced May 15th and will be featured online and in The Quilter magazine's July issue.
The quilts will be auctioned on eBay Giving Works to benefit Children’s Miracle Network starting May 18th.
